About the Dominican Republic Tourist Card Online

The Dominican Republic Tourist Card is a visitor tax launched under Law 199-67 by the Dominican Republic, which establishes the acquisition of the Tourist Card as a requirement to enter national territory, for tourism purposes, without the need of a consular visa. Since may 2018 air tickets issued outside the Dominican Republic include the Tourist Card fee Applicants entering the country by land, sea or those who obtain the air tickets before may 2018 are required to complete an online form and provide the details of a valid travel document or passport.

Citizens and nationals of eligible countries can apply online for a Dominican Republic Tourist Card by completing an online form and providing the details of a valid travel document or passport.The Tourist Card is valid for one (1) year after being issued, for stays of up to 30 days in the country. If wishing to extend the visit in the Dominican Republic, one should go to the General Directorate of Migration to apply for an extended stay. The Dominican Republic Tourist Card does not allow its holder to engage in paid activities while in Dominican territory. All those traveling to the Dominican Republic for business are required to apply for a Business Visa.

Dominican Republic Tourist Card Conditions

  • The Dominican Republic Tourist Card is valid for one (1) year from its date of issue.
  • The Tourist Card is only valid for one person and can only be used once.
  • The Dominican Republic Tourist Card allows for stays of up to 30 days.
  • The Dominican Republic Tourist Card may be extended an extra 30 days upon arrival by presenting an extension application directly at the General Directorate of Migration.
  • Travelers will need to show their valid printed Dominican Republic Tourist Card upon arrival.
  • If the card has any kind of wear and tear that keeps it from being read by the scanner, it will not be processed.
  • If the Tourist Card while being checked at the checkpoint, happens to be a duplicate, it will not be accepted. In this case the Tourist will have to assume the costs of buying a new card at the air, land, or sea port of arrival to be able to access the Dominican Republic.
  • Tourists traveling to the Dominican Republic must have a valid passport.
  • Minors must have their own Dominican Republic Tourist Card even if they are traveling under their parent’s passport.

  • Applicants will be informed via email of the status of their application.
  • Applicants will receive their Dominican Republic Tourist Card via email in PDF format.
  • Applicants are required to print at least one copy of their approved Dominican Republic Tourist Card.
  • Upon arrival travelers will be requested to present their Tourist Card at the border control checkpoint.
  • Once the validity period has passed, the Tourist Card visa becomes invalid and can no longer be used to enter the Dominican Republic.
  • The duration of stay may not exceed the designated 30-day period. However, the Tourist Card visa can be extended at the General Directorate of Migration.

Citizens and nationals from Ecuador, Argentina, Israel, Chile, Japan, South Korea, Peru, and Uruguay are exempted from the Tourist Card visa.
